In the Olympiad participated 36 students from 10 universities: 7 students from Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU), 12 from Lithuania (Šiauliai University and Aleksandras Stulginskis University), 3 from Estonia, as well as other Latvian students from Riga Technical University, Ventspils University, Vidzemes University of Applied Sciences, Rezekne Academy of Technologies, Daugavpils University and University of Latvia. LLU Erasmus + students from Italy, India and Bangladesh also took part in group exercises.

“There were two stages – the individual, which was difficult and each inaccuracy affected the final result. In the second stage we were divided into small groups with students from other universities,” says IT student from ViA - Annija Viktorija Zaķe. “In general, the day was successful, although my performance could have been better. If there was a chance, then I would definitely participate again” says Annija.

The groups had to solve a problem and then present their solution for that problem to other groups. The groups were split up randomly, so that in people from different universities and countries (8 groups/ 5 participants in each group) would work together. Groups were also given an additional task – to share their experience in math studies, identify common and different things in these studies from previously mentioned universities and also make a suggestion on how to improve math studies.

“I have participated in many Olympiads, that’s why this one didn’t seem so difficult, but the time for individual tasks wasn’t enough. Overall, I am satisfied with my results, although I know I could’ve got better results, because I made some negligent mistakes.” says ViA IT student, Undīne Kobitjeva, who won the 1st place on an individual task.
